Library Information
Library Check-Out Schedule
Each class has a set library check-out time each week.  Students are encouraged to visit the library in between check-out days if they are in need of a new or different book.  Please help your child remember to bring in his/her books on library check-out day!  Follow the link for the library weekly schedule.
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books permission forms are located here.  Battle dates:  School Battle will be on February 26th from 1:30-3:30.  Pikes Peak Regional Battle will be on April 15th.

For an up-to-date 2009-2010 Battle of the Books list, follow this link.

We have an enormous group of kids participating in Battle this year.  That will make it very important for everyone to do their part in reading and preparation.  Please help your child remember their Battle practice dates in the library so that they can come prepared.  In November and December teams will be sharing the reading load and creating detailed notes about the books that they have read.  These will then be used for review sessions before the Battle date.  In January and February after more reading has taken place, we will begin using these practice sessions for quizzing practice.  It will be imparative for your child to read all the way up to Battle, so that books are fresh in everyone's minds.  Remember, the more books everyone reads, the better their chances during the Battle.  For a Battle schedule click here

Book Talks
Students in grades 3-5 will begin library check-out every week with a short book talk.  These presentations will give a quick overview of a book that a student or myself wish to recommend to others.  These recommendations will help us all share our knowledge of the great books to be discovered in the library.  This is an optional activity for kids to participate in, but all are encouraged to give it a try before the end of the year.  This is intended to be a low-stress, fun way to share a "short commercial" about books kids love.  The following guide can help the student prepare, but what to include is his/her choice.  Follow the link for a book talk format guide.
